I'm not crazy about science fiction movies, but I liked the first installment of Guardians of The Galaxy. I particularly like Chris Pratt as Peter Quill and Bradley Cooper as Rocket, so I was a bit skeptical about the sequel because I know most sequels aren't as good as their first films. Just like the first one, James Gunn focuses on the theme of friendship and family with a bit of humor. This time, the story focuses on Peter Quill as he meets his long lost biological father Ego, played by the fantastic Kurt Russell. Peter feels like he finally knows what exactly happened to his father and why he left, only to realize that Ego is evil and only needs his genetics to be able to rule the world. Together with Gamora, Rocket, Drax, Mantis, Nebula and Yondu, they eventually defeat Ego.

The movie had great sound effects and CGI which I felt was a bit too colorful, like it was designed by little kids. The cast had fantastic chemistry and each of them played important roles in the story. Nebula and Yondu played larger roles than they did in the first one. Guardians of The Galaxy is fun, exciting and filled with a lot of action to keep you on the edge of your seat. The whole story with Ego was just plain weird and crazy, but fun to watch. I wouldn't say it was better than the first one, maybe just as good. James Gunn, who wrote and directed the first and second installments has been slated to work on the third movie both as the writer and director.
