Chicago PD Season Five Premiere- "Reform"

Okay guys! I think it's time I let you all know that I'm  the biggest fan of Dick Wolfe's Chicago PD and it's my favorite ?procedural at the moment. I was really looking forward to the return because my Wednesday night's never felt the same after the fourth season ended. The first episode of the fifth was really emotional especially because the case affected one of my favorites, Jay Halstead. So here's the story, the Intelligence Unit gets caught in the crossfire with a group of African American guys and Jay's bullet goes through one of the assailants, through a door and ends up hitting a little girl in a daycare. The whole case goes left because it becomes a race thing and they try to make Jay seem like a racist, when he really isn't. The culprit is eventually arrested and Jay is let off the hook. I love the fact that they didn't waste any time beating around the bush about the fact that Erin was no longer in the unit. Jay mentioned that he didn't get any call from her and Hank was shown talking to a therapist about how much he missed Erin, who was like a daughter to him. This came a bit as a shock for me because Hank isn't the type to talk to a therapist, but I'm happy he's making progress because he has a lot to work through, especially with the death of his son.

One of the most pivotal scenes in the episode was when Ruzek went ballistic over a black guy reaching for his phone. This made Atwater feel some type of way and Ruzek tried to apologize but he didn't really take it. Cameras have also been placed in the interrogation rooms and this is really going to affect the team, especially Voight and Olinsky, who sometimes take different measures to get answers from some of the people they arrest. Tracy S?piridakos who plays Detective Hailey Upton has joined the Intelligence Unit and the cast of PD as a regular. After leaving PD last season to join Justice, Jon Seda is back as Detective Antonio Dawson, and I couldn't be happier. ASA Anna Valdez (Monica Barbaro) from justice will also be joining the PD cast. I don't think Jay is going to get over Lindsey anytime soon and I'm so bummed out Soopia Bush won't be returning because I really loved her character. This was a really good way to start the season and I'm really looking forward to watching new episodes every week.

Welcome back Antonio!
