How To Get Away With Murder Season Four Premiere - "I'm Going Away"

The episode begins a few months after Wes' (Alfred Enoch) death and this is a totally different route from the usual murder and court room filled season premieres, this is more character driven. It was revealed last season that Laurel's dad hired a family friend, Dominc, to kill Wes but the reason is still unknown. Annalise invites Connor, Asher, Michaela and Laurel to a dinner but there's a flashback to show how we got there. On her way to see her family on a redemption trip, Annalise meets a man on the plane, Desmond, played by her real life husband, Julius Tennon, and they hit it off. She almost has sex with him but ends up backing out. She also deals with the fact that her mother's dementia was on the rise and they had to take a look at a home for her. We see a totally different side of Annalise and together with Cicely Tyson, they deliver award worthy performances. Connor declines Oliver's proposal while Michaela and Asher go mattress shopping.

When they finally arrive at the dinner, Annalise tells them that she will still be able to be a lawyer, but she fires all of them. Everyone is surprised and angry except Connor who thanks her before leaving the restaurant. This will obviously not be the last of this group because somehow, they always find a way to come back to each other and the only thing that can bring them back is M-U-R-D-E-R or maybe in this case, a kidnap. Bonnie isn't left out of this, Analise also hands her a letter of recomendation. Bonnie is heartbroken and doesn't want to leave, but she has no other choice. She goes over to Denver and I can't help but feel betrayal oozing from Bonnie. Flash forward to three months later and Laurel is in the hospital with Frank telling her that her baby is gone. She's screaming hysterically and asking Frank "Where is the baby?".
Annalise's therapist is definitely going to have something to do with the mystery this season and now that Laurel knows her father killed Wes, does that mean he has something to do with her missing baby? There's so much mystery with Laurel's family and I would really love to get some answers. This episode is very calm for a HTGAWM episode and it's something I really appreciate but I have a feeling things will eventually get crazy as the episodes keep coming. Welcome back guys!
