If you loved Mike Colter as the drug dealer Lemond Bishop on The Good Wife and as Luke Cage on Jessica Jones, then you're definitely going to love his new show on Netflix. Marvel's superhero Luke Cage is an African-American man with super strong bullet proof body which he got through a failed prison experiment. The comic character Luke Cage was born in the early 1970s and during this period, Marvel Comics was trying to take advantage of the blaxploitation which was a trend around that time. After so much anticipation, Netflix released Luke Cage on September 30, 2016 and it was received with a lot of positive reviews.

Luke Cage's plot is quite fresh and I don't think you need to know too much about the Marvel Universe to understand it. During the first episode I just kept itching for Luke to show his superpowers and strengths and he finally did when Mariah's (Alfre Woodard) thugs were trying to exploit his Landlords who owned the restaurant below where he lived. One of the thugs punched Luke only to have his hand break as it landed on his face.
I don't want to give out too much spoilers so I'll just recommend you see Luke Cage which I've been binge watching for hours now. Luke Cage isn't like every superhero show which tends to be a little cliche sometimes, it's worth every hour. The location is Harlem and not Hell's Kitchen like in Daredevil and Jessica Jones, although Luke has been in Harlem for 5 months after leaving Hell's Kitchen. A lot of people were complaining about how "black" Luke Cage was with too many black characters and very few white characters, but it's been so many decades of watching TV shows and movies filled with white characters and maybe one or two black or Hispanic characters. Some even think the show is racists and "too black" .

Mike Colter is surrounded by outstanding cast members including Mahershala Ali (House of Cards), Alfre Woodard (State of Affairs), Simone Missich (Black Card) and Theo Rossi (Sons of Anarchy). Thumbs up to Marvel for this brilliant TV show which I think is their best yet. I'll just sit back and binge watch the entire season and hope the second season is better.
