'Udta Punjab' Movie Review (10/10)

I watched the movie at Odeon, The Trafford Centre, Manchester on the first weekend of release. I quite liked the trailer and songs and wanted to watch it and so made a special effort to watch it.

The movie is about the drug menace, 'narco terrorism' afflicting Punjab, told through the experience of the characters of the film.

The screenplay, casting and direction are excellent. The movie progresses at a steady pace and all characters are adequately explored. The songs are nicely integrated into the movie. The best thing about the movie is that it's non-prescriptive and doesn't pass judgement or offer solutions and the issues are not overtly sensationalised.

Kudos to the director and the production team for making a gritty film exploring the underbelly of Punjab. Deserved 10/10 for this commendable flick.
