The Gifted Season One Premiere: "eXposed"

The Gifted is set in an alternate timeline after the events of X Men: Days of The Future Past. Mutants publicly co exist with humans but the mutants are still hunted by the police and treated as second class citizens and its premise follows the Strucker family. The father, Reed (Stephen Moyer) is a mutant prosecutor while the mother, Caitlyn (Amy Acker) is a nurse. They have a daughter Lauren (Natalie Alyn Lind) and a son, Andy (Percy Hines) who are both mutants. Things go south when an incident at a school dance brings out Andy's powers and prompts Lauren to reveal her previously hidden powers. This becomes a serious problem for the Strucker family because they immediately have to go on the run from the government's Sentinel Services, an organization with the aim of capturing mutants. Reed desperately seeks help from Marcos (Sean Teale), who is part of the mutant rebellion.

The pilot was pretty good and the performances from the cast was excellent. The pace is intense enough to keep you excited from the beginning of the episode till the end. The plot seems very predictable and the whole "being hunted down by the government" gave me a Beauty and the Beast Vibe. Compared to the pilot of Inhumans, this is better. I want to see more of Acker because she really didn't do much in the episode. This sort of story line isn't the type that keeps the audience interested for a long time. After one or two seasons, it might get annoying. Nevertheless, I loved the premiere and I'll definitely be sticking around to find out how the rest of the show goes. The first season is going to consist of ten episodes which will air every Monday night.
