This Is Us- Season Two Premiere Recap "A Father's Advice"

It's safe to say no one should watch an episode of This Is Us without a box of tissue close by, because it'll definitely come handy in at least two scenes. The NBC show returned Tuesday night with its second season and it was as emotional as every other episode. Kevin (Justin Hartley) and Toby (Chris Sullivan) get into an argument over who should take care of Kate (Chrissy Metz). She interrupts by reminding them that she's a 37 year old woman who is more than capable of taking care of herself. We'll get more of Kate as she continues to grow and develop herself as a singer, just like her mother. Beth (Susan Kelechi Watson) is also having difficulties coming around to the adoption but she ends up suggesting she and Randall (Sterling K. Brown) adopt a child that is already grown and not a baby.
Rebecca-"...He pushed a stranger on me and that stranger became my child and that child became my life. He became you."

In the first season, a lot of viewers were itching to know how Jack (Milo Ventimiglia) died and they didn't waste any time giving us a hint in "A Father's Advice". The final scenes of the episode reveals Rebecca (Mandy Moore) driving to the Pearson home which had been consumed by a fire. Kate and Randall are in tears at Miguel's (Jon Huertas) house while Kevin is making out with a girl (probably a young Sophie) and isn't aware of the fact that his father had just died. This show is very good at dropping very little clues and we might not know what really killed Jack or how he died till a few more episodes or maybe the end of the second season. It's possible that Jack died in the fire but why does Rebecca have his things in her car? In the first season Kate said her dad's death was her fault, how does she fit into this? This Is Us is one of the best shows on TV right now and they continue to bring their A game with the amazing acting from the cast and the way they make all the flash backs work. It's not an easy task but their story telling is epic and I can't wait to see where this season takes us. Welcome back to the emotional ride guys!
