WARNING! SPOILERS AHEAD!!!
The eight episode series based on the book by Petra Hammesfahr started out a little confusing and disturbing, but it ended on a happy note. For the past 7 episodes, the question on my mind has been "why did Cora do it" and the question was finally answered in last night's season finale. We find out that Phoebe died in the arms of Frankie Belmont (Eric Todd) the night she went out with Cora. The most shocking part of the episode was when it was revealed that Frankie's father was responsible for the memory gap Cora experienced. Apparently, after Frankie called him years ago to tell him about Phoebe, he immediately told his son to go home and buried Phoebe's body in the woods with JD. He wanted to kill Cora too but ended up taking her to his house where he covered his face with a ski mask and injected her with drugs for months to stop her from remembering what happened that night. After months of doing this, he dressed her up in new clothes and dumped her on the streets. He did all of this to protect his son but on that beautiful day at the beach, the memories came rushing back when Cora hears the song and sees Frankie laughing happily.

JD had also been blackmailing Frankie's father for years to get him Opioids. He was killed by some guys who worked for him in his Opioid ring because they thought he was talking to the police about their business. The Belmonts are evil people because every time they went to court, they saw Cora and knew exactly why she killed their son and they kept praying she never remembered. This was the biggest twist in the entire season because I never imagined Frankie's father as the guilty party, It never even crossed my mind. Thumbs up to Detective Ambrose (Bill Pullman) who figured out everything. Cora will probably live a happy life again because she'll be out of jail in 2 years and reunite with her husband and son. The show started out with us trying to figure out "Why?" but after a few episodes, we realize it's much more than that.

There was some sort of growth for Cora because she finally confronted her mother, realized that she was actually not addicted to Heroine and forgave the man responsible for her memory loss. Jessica Biel played her role so well that I got really emotional thinking about what Cora and her sister went through in the hands of their parents. She delivered a superb performance in the finale which was probably her best in the entire series. There's no confirmation yet if the series will have a second season because it's a standalone event. If it gets renewed, then a totally different story will be put together, which means it'll become and Anthology. I'll definitely be very interested to see where the show goes it there's a second season especially if the story has a psychological layer.

There's no how Christopher Abott who plays Cora's husband isn't somehow related to Kit Harrington (Jon Snow). They look like twins!!
