Review- What Lies Within (2017)

I didn't see the trailer for "What Lies Within" but I saw posters everywhere so I decided to see it hoping it would be something really good but I left the theater a bit disappointed.  The Vanessa Nzediegwu directed film boasts of an ensemble cast which includes Michelle Dede, Tope Tedela and Ken Erics failed to do something outstanding with the plot. The story follows Fiona (Michelle Dede) as she tries to get her sister in law Ireti (Vanessa Nzediegwu) out of a very violent marriage with her brother in law Brian (Ken Erics). "What Lies Within" had a great premise but it lacked greatly in execution. The cast and characters were also not good enough to bring life to the movie especially Dimeji played by Kiki Omelli. Her acting was subpar and she kept laughing so much in a very annoying manner that you would think she was deliberately trying to annoy the audience. Some of the other cast members acted too fake and rehearsed. One very major issue this movie had, was the sound. Everything and everyone sounded really terrible and it had this piercing effect like someone was using a fork to play with your eardrums.
There were a few plot holes in this film that couldn't go unnoticed. Like the fact that while Ireti was locking the toilet door, the the key broke and to my understanding, the door was already locked and part of the broken key was still stuck so how were they able to open the door so easily without any hassle? They mentioned that Fiona was pregnant but she kept gulping glasses of alcohol. I thought pregnant women were not supposed to drink. The last few scenes were the most confusing. Fiona gets arrested but we don't know how the police found out about the body or if that was the reason she was getting arrested. What happened to the family members and how did they take the fact that they couldn't find Brian. What happened to Ireti? This movie had a lot of potentials and it could have been better but it ended up being confusing and annoying. I wish they did better with cast, characters and the overall execution.
