Insecure Season Two Finale- 'Hella Perspective'

WARNING!! SPOILERS AHEAD!

After the messy 7th episode of HBO's Insecure, I was really looking forward to how Issa, Molly and Lawrence were going to solve all their problems. In "Hella Perspective", they take us through the past 30 days of Lawrence (Jay Ellis), Issa (Issa Rae) and Molly (Yvonne Orji) before bringing us to the present. Lawrence runs in the marathon and sees Molly and Issa on the sidelines, but ignores them. Things with Aparna (Jasmine Kaur) are also going very well but he doesn't like the fact that she slept with their co-worker, Collin and he mentions it to her while they sit in traffic. He's obviously not over what Issa did to him. Aparna gets offended and storms out of the car when she sees a call from Issa on his phone.
While supporting Kelli at the marathon, Molly tells Issa about Quentin (Lil Rel Howery) and how he's interested in her. She also goes for interviews with other firms because she doesn't feel valued at her job. Molly goes for drinks with Quentin and she tells her therapist that he's not really her type, but while they're working late one night, she goes for it and they have sex. When her firm finds out that she has been interviewing with other firms, they give her a "Rising Star" award to show they're appreciation which leaves Molly a bit disappointed.

Issa, Molly, Derek and Tiffany (who is pregnant) meet Kelli at the finish line on a stretcher, they find out that she got her period and couldn't finish the race. Issa sees Lawrence and Aparna all over each other at the marathon but she ignores them.  At "We Got Ya'll", her boss isn't too happy with her but she makes amends with the recently promoted Frieda and they go for drinks. Issa is moving out of her apartment, so Kelli and Molly help her out. She also has a yard sale to sell a few things but is unable to sell the blue couch so she leaves Lawrence a message telling him to come and get it when she leaves. When she goes back to the apartment to drop off her keys, she finds Lawrence inside. They finally have a proper adult conversation about their breakup, apologize to each other and they both admit that they're still love with one another. They tearfully hug and Lawrence stands at the doorway to say goodbye and suddenly the life Issa might probably never have flashes before her eyes. Lawrence asks her to marry him, they get married and have a beautiful baby but she quickly snaps back to reality and says goodbye to Lawrence.

Molly and Issa have a Moroccan themed dinner and Molly offers to let Issa move in, but she declines. On her way to what we all thought was her brother's house, she gets a friend request from Lawrence and she's glad they're finally on good terms. Molly searches for the perfect underwear and opens her door to Dro, who seems really glad to see his lover. This is going to catch up with them really soon and not in a good way. Issa shows up at an apartment and guess who opens the door? Daniel. The episode ends with her saying she's sleeping on his couch.
Written by Issa Rae, "Hella Perspective" was carefully crafted and well executed and I think it's one of their best episodes yet. I love how they gave us the story from the perspectives of the three major characters. The episode still felt a bit rushed and we didn't really get enough of Molly and what pushed her to get back with her therapist and Dro because she supposedly ended things with him in the last episode.

Issa and Lawrence's apartment scene was extremely emotional and beautifully shot and I'm not going to lie, I almost teared up. This is one of the best scenes from the entire second season. Rae and Ellis did justice to their respective roles. With Molly, I'm just pissed that she went back to Dro. It's going to be a messy third season for her because Candice is going to find out about the relationship. The finale goes to say that this amazing show needs more than eight episodes. Its too small for the plot and characters and it needs to be increased to Ten 45-minute long episodes. What's going to happen with these beloved characters next season? Its like they all take a step forward and then two steps backward, especially Molly. Will she remain Dro's side chick/lover/mistress? Will she want more from the relationship? Is she going to finally leave her firm? What's going to happen with Issa and Daniel now that they're roommates? Is Lawrence's relationship with Aparna over? Will Issa and Lawrence ever get back together? I guess most of these questions will be answered in the third season which will premiere next year. I love this show so much and I honestly can't wait to see where they take us in the third season. I'm sure its going to be hella crazy.
