Shooter Season 2 Premiere Review

The last season of USA's shooter was filled with so much suspense and intense action, I was a bit bothered with how the second season would play out considering the story line. Bob Lee Swagger (Ryan Phillipe) was finally exonerated after being framed for the assassination of the President of the United States at the end of the season. This was such a sigh of relief because I would have hated it if they dragged it on to this season. The episode begins a year after the events of the last season and the Swagger family have moved to Texas to live a quiet life although Julie is having serious difficulties getting over what they went through last year. When he attends a ceremony in Germany to honor one of his friends in his former unit, things go south. Bob Lee and his old military group (including Isaac) are targeted and he takes it upon himself to find the people responsible.

They didn't waste time to get straight to the action few minutes into the episode which I really liked. Instead of building up to the attack, they showed it first before going back to days before it took place. This was a smart move because it definitely kept me on the edge of my seat. Part of the first episode was filmed in Germany which means this show is kicking things up a notch. I love the fact that there's a whole new conspiracy to unfold and new characters. The premiere was really good and fast paced, I can already tell that the rest of the season is going to be explosive! No pun intended. Now it's not all about Swagger clearing his name, it's about his old military unit and how someone or maybe an organization is after them. The only question now is, why? I have a feeling it has to do with something the unit was involved in years ago. "The Hunting Party" did a great job with drawing the audience into this action that is about to unfold. We just have to wait and see how it plays out, hopefully it'll be better than the last season. Shooter continues next Tuesday, July 25.
