Best TV shows of 2017 (So Far)

There have been so many good shows this year, both the new ones and a few that returned. I'll admit, sometimes I struggle to keep up because there's so much to watch and very little time and with so many shows popping on our TV screens everyday, I wish I could add a few extra hours to a day just so I could finish my favorite shows. The year is gone half way so I decided to put together ten of my favorite shows so far and I'm pretty sure this list would be modified by the end of the year because there's still a lot coming to TV during the remaining part of the year.

10. Orange Is the New Black Season 5 (Netflix)
This season of Orange is The New Black focused on the riot and how to improve the Litchfield prison system after the deaths of one of the major characters. This show has never disappointed the viewers every season by bringing out binge worthy episodes which literally leave you wanting more. This season was no different.
9.SHOTS FIRED (FOX)
Sanaa Lathan and Stephen James star in this FOX drama about race and police accountability in a community. Their investigation open old wounds which leads them to a cover up. The story tells us how a lot of people abuse power and hide the truth when they have the opportunity.

8.HOUSE OF CARDS SEASON 5 (Netflix)
I never get enough of House of Cards which in my opinion is one of the best shows right now. The fifth season which became available on Netflix on May 30th was really dark. It saw Claire Underwood breaking the fourth wall just like her husband Frank. It seemed like the media wanted to bring down this power couple especially Tom Hammershmidt but they kept finding ways to get out of their problems. This season was amazing in every way thanks to the amazing cast and script.

7. THE GOOD FIGHT (CBS All Access)
The Good Wife is still one of my best shows and the spinoff doesn't fall too far from it. Starring a few of the major characters from its predecessor like Christine Baranski and Cush Jumbo, the show focuses on the law firm Reddick, Boseman & Kolstad and the cases they come across with a few other sub plots. For some reason I'm still waiting to see Alicia pop out from somewhere.
 6. FEUD: BETTE AND JOAN (FX)
Everything about this show is epic! The cast, the story line and the amazing costumes. The Ryan Murphy Drama focuses on the battle between former Hollywood divas Joan Crawford (Jessica Lange) and Bette Davis (Susan Sarandon) during the making of their 1962 film "Whatever Happened To Baby Jane?" The story explores the ups and downs these women faced as aging actresses in Hollywood. Lange and Sarandon brought their roles to life with their amazing acting skills.

5. BILLIONS SEASON 2 (Showtime)
Every season, Showtime's Billions proves why it is one of the best Drama's on TV by releasing intense episodes of Paul Giamatti's Chuck Rhoades and Damian Lewis' Bobby Axelrod planning how they can bring each other down. As usual they had really captivating dialogues just like the first season.

4. SHERLOCK SEASON 4 (BBC)
Sherlock always delivers with thought provoking seasons and this literally kept me on the edge of my seat. Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman are one of the best duos on TV and I can't get enough of them.

3. HOMELAND SEASON 6 (Showtime)
This season took place in New York and Peter Quinn played by Rupert Friend is the main reason why I'm adding Homeland to this list. He delivered such a stellar performance which I think is Emmy worthy.

2. BIG LITTLE LIES (HBO)
Based on the 2014 novel of the same name Big Little Lies stars some of the big names in Hollywood which includes Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman, Shailene Woodley and Zo Kravitz. The miniseries was full of mystery and so unpredictable. I particularly loved Nicole Kidman's role.

1. THE HANDMAID'S TALE (Hulu)
I'm still not over this adaptation of Margaret Atwood's 1985 book of the same name about a Dystopian country ruled by a Totalitarian government. Women are forced into being surrogates for the elites in the society. The Handmaids Tale has been my best show so far this year and one of my best ever. I can already see the awards rolling in.
