The Catch is one of those shows I knew I was going to like before watching it, the first season was really nice and I know for sure the second season is going to be better. The last episode of the Shondaland show ended with Ben turning himself to the FBI to save his fianc�e Alice from going to jail. Ben is looking at 10 to 15 years in prison but Agent Dao is able to get him a deal for 3 to 5 years with his FBI supervisor Justine Diaz (Gina Rodriguez) because he handed them the head of the Kensington Firm. Margot is now the head of the crime syndicate, she calls a meeting in L.A. and the lieutenants don't look so enthusiastic to work for Margot. One of them even had the audacity to get up from the table to pick a call, Margot shoots him and this gets everyone's attention.
Alice and Val's firm isn't doing too well since the investigation, the FBI also seized their files and computers. While at the office, Danny gets an alert that someone broke into Alice's home. It turns out it was only her brother Tommy. He tells Alice that there's $3 million in his account and he doesn't know how it got there. Agent Dao and Diaz visit Ben and they tell him to go undercover with the FBI for 18 months and they'll get him out of prison the next day. He turns them down at first because he wants to do his time, get out and marry Alice but he accepts eventually. When Alice hears about this new deal, she isn't too happy about it. A few minutes later, Ben gets shivved while taking a shower. I actually thought it was someone who found out about his deal or someone from the Kensington firm but it was the charming sociopath Rhys who hired a serial killer to stab Ben deep enough to go to the hospital without hitting any organs.

Rhys promised to complete a job with Ben who really wants to go back to jail. he only allows him call Alice but not the FBI. Diaz, who is already pissed, tells Alice that the deal with Ben is over and when she gets him, he's going back to jail for good. Margot visits her mom in jail thinking she is the one sabotaging the firm from the inside but it turns out she is innocent. Someone else is targeting the firm and Margot has to do something about it. Ben finds out from Rhys that their new target is Gainda Mangels, the estranged wife of a gangster who wants them to steal a briefcase. Ben has to pose as a masseuse to get the briefcase.

Back at Anderson Vaughn, they find out that the owners of the $3 million in Tommy's account have been murdered and it was only a matter of time before they get Tommy but he doesn't care. He's excited and wants to spend the money. Alice says she's going to call the FBI to freeze the account and he storms out of the office angry. Diaz walks in and Alice agrees to give her the number Ben used to call her. Rhys and Ben get the briefcase after Ben knocks her out with chloroform but Rhys wants to take a peek inside. They get distracted by the fact that the briefcase contained a sample of Mangels' sperm and Gainda wakes up and points her gun at them. Ben throws her the bottle containing the sperm, it lands on the floor and Gainda slips on it. Alice walks in with Diaz and some other agents. If the FBI can find enough to put Mangels away, then Ben's deal is back on. The episode ends with Margot showing up at Anderson Vaughn asking for help- "I suddenly found myself in need of a private investigation and security firm. Are you available?�

The episode was a great introduction into the new season, I look forward to the next episode because I really want to know how Alice is going to work with Margot. I feel like Alice's brother Tommy isn't so innocent, he looks like he might have a few skeletons in his closet. Most TGIT shows are a bit dark and very serious (How To Get Away With Murder, Scandal, Greys Anatomy) but The Catch is a bit sexy and funny sometimes. I love the fact that they solve their crimes each episode instead of making you think and eventually giving you a headache and the fact that the second season doesn't waste any time getting straight into the action only makes things better. I'm also beginning to like Rhys more, he's a bit of a comic relief for the show even though he's still a cold blooded killer. According to Executive Producer Alan Heinberg, this season is going to have more character focused cases which would explore their lives, backstories and relationships. Alice and Ben are now on the same side and in love. I can't wait to see what the writers have in store for this season, it already looks like I'm going to have a good time watching.
