Supergirl: Season 2 Premiere Recap

Supergirl is finally home at The CW with fellow DC Comics shows like Arrow, The flash and Legends of Tomorrow. The first season was quite fun and witty and the second season picks up right where the finale left off. Kara and Martian Manhunter find a pod with a guy in it and they take him to the DEO headquarters and start running tests. Kara is also trying to figure out her next career path at CatCo and is given 48 hours to make a decision by Kat Grant. During her first date with James, they get interrupted by the launch of the first commercial aircraft which had been sabotaged by the criminal John Corben. Supergirl leaves her date to stop the aircraft from crashing and is joined by her cousin Superman (Tyler Hoechlin). They both save the day and Kara tells her cousin how much she had always wanted to team up with him.

They both arrive at the DEO and everyone is excited to see Superman but there's tension between him and J'onn J'onzz. Superman accuses him of keeping kryptonite and says he isn't going to work with him until he gets rid of it.

At the DEO, they investigate the failed launch of the commercial aircraft which leads them to Lex Luther who hired Corben to kill his sister Lena Luther. After the first plan fails, John Corben uses drones to take down Lena's helicopter but Superman and Supergirl save her and the civilians being shot at with the drones. Kara is still struggling with her relationship and career path.

The next day at a ceremony hosted by Lena Luther, Corben attacks again and tries to bring down a nearby building to distract Superman and Supergirl while he goes after Lena. Supergirl is able to stop the building from crumbling while Alex goes after Corben. They take him down after Lena shoots him twice.

At the end of the episode Kara tells Kat that she wants to be a reporter and Kat tells her she always knew she was going to be a good reporter from the first day they met. After this, Kara shatters James' heart by telling him that she'd rather they remain friends. The final scene of the episode shows John Corben's body at CADMUS as he is being turned into Metallo.
It was a good start for the second season and we finally got to meet Superman and I'm happy it continues with its witty charm which is quite different from fellow DC shows Arrow and the Flash.
Now all I'm waiting for is the four-way crossover episode with The Flash, Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow which I know is going to be exciting!

Random Thoughts
1. I was so excited when I found out Tyler Hoechlin was going to be Superman, although he looks better with facial hair. I loved him in Teen Wolf and take every opportunity I get to see him on screen. He's definitely giving Henry Cavill a run for his money
2. Why did Kara have to end things with James after they only just started and spent last season trying to become a thing. I hope this story line doesn't eventually get annoying.
